Custom plush: common questions
Minimums, timing, testing and branding, answered.
What is the minimum order for custom plush?
MOQ is per design, because testing costs are fixed per design. For Vietnam (corporate gifts and Vietnamese retail) it is 500 pcs. For export it is 1,000 pcs per design. Ready-made catalogue patterns start at 500 pcs per order and can be mixed.
How long do samples and production take?
The first sample takes 7 to 10 working days after the sample fee is paid and the artwork is final. Mass production takes at least 30 days after the sample is approved and the deposit is received, longer for larger quantities, plus shipping time to your market.
Which safety tests will my plush need?
It depends on the destination market and the sales channel. Typical examples: EN 71 for the EU, ASTM F963 and CPSIA at a CPSC-accepted lab for the United States, and QCVN 3 with the CR mark for retail in Vietnam. Corporate gifts given away in Vietnam, not sold, need only a full VAT invoice. Declare every market at inquiry so testing covers all of them.
Who actually makes the plush?
Takara does not own factories. Each order is assigned to a partner factory in Vietnam that Takara has checked on quality, working conditions, environment and production integrity, and Takara manages sampling, quality control and delivery. Certifications and audits are held by the partner factories and accredited labs, not by Takara itself.
Can the plush carry our own labels and packaging?
Yes. Your own woven label is available from 500 pcs; smaller runs keep the standard label and use your branded hangtag. Embroidered logos, branded hangtags and retail boxes are each quoted as a separate line.
What is the difference between a plushie and a plush toy?
None in production terms. "Plushie" is the informal word for a plush toy or stuffed animal: a soft toy cut and sewn from fabric such as velboa or minky and filled with polyester fibre. Takara quotes plushies, plush toys and plush mascots the same way, by design, size and quantity.
Can you turn our drawing or logo into a custom plushie?
Yes. Send the artwork, a target size and the quantity. Design work and 3D modelling are quoted per project. The sample fee is US$100 to 300 per design depending on complexity and includes up to 3 revision rounds. Colours are matched to the closest stock fabric; custom-dyed Pantone fabric starts from 3,000 pcs.
